Enticing extras for Equipe

HOLDEN has released a highly tempting special value package in the form of the Captiva Equipe which presents the carmaker’s highly popular seven seater in a whole new way.

With 1000 Captivas already sold this year Holden is looking for even more with the launch this month of this limited production model.

This special model, based on the Captiva LS, comes with extras such as a factory fitted electric sunroof, 18 inch unique alloy wheels, roof rails and leather appointed seat trim in black.

Front fog lamps complete the exterior appearance.

These enticing extras come on top of a large SUV that comes billed as the perfect family car with seating variations which can cope with five to seven passengers.

If you doubt the size of the interior how about this: the Captiva can take up to 50 shopping bags, an impressive statistic that means it can deal with the most obsessive shopaholic.

The Captiva features new technology that allows drivers to stay connected while they are in the car. That includes Apple Carplay or Android auto functionality which allows hands free access for music streaming and satellite navigation via phone projection. All of this is visible on a seven-inch colour screen.

Additional convenience features include passive entry and start with sensor key, plus an eight-way electric driver’s seat.

That comes on top of existing standard Captiva features such as dual zone air conditioning, tinted windows and auto headlights.

This big vehicle is also big on safety with electronic stability control that is now mandatory on all new vehicles, a reversing camera and reversing sensors and six airbags including curtain ones along the front and middle seats.

The standard 2.4 litre petrol engine is mated with a six speed automatic transmission. It has the all the power needed to make this big vehicle perform, 123kW at 5600rpm backed up by a maximum torque of 230Nm at 4600rpm.

Although it is a substantial vehicle designed with a large family in mind, the Equipe is not heavy to drive and is extremely manoeuvrable with a suspension that irons out all the bumps in the road and leaves the occupants feeling as comfortable as if they were at home in their favourite chair.

The icing on the cake is a special deal for this limited production model that leaves it with a recommended retail price of just $35,990 plus on road costs. It goes without saying that the Equipe is covered with a three year warranty as well as Holden Roadside Assist.

The reviewers are calling it the big sports utility vehicle (SUV) priced near a mid-sized one.

The limited production Equipe marks a real gem in Holden’s treasure chest.
