See the Foton at this year’s A&P Show

It’s show time and the popular Foton Tunland utes will be proudly on display at the A&P Show this weekend.

This gives the public a chance to see first hand the Chinese made vehicles that are making quite an impact on the motoring scene.

Both the two wheel drive and four wheel drive models will be on display, the former is placed at a tempting $23,990 plus GST and the four wheel models go for just $28,990 plus GST.

Reaction to the Foton’s since their introduction to Gisborne only a couple of years ago has been positive.

The Foton’s have been improved steadily to the point where the third model has got things right.

Repeat orders tell the story with buyers happy with their original Foton and adding another to their fleet or upgrading.

The Tunland formula is simple and effective.

Tunland’s original, robust design is partnered with the power, performance and reliability of established, globally-reputed brands for its major drivetrain elements.

All the Tunlands are powered by the Cummins ISF engine, the 2.8 litre turbo diesel intercooled engine with its massive 120kW of power at 3000 rpm and extremely flat torque curve of 360Nm between 1800 and 3000rpm. It is good enough for Cummins to provide a three year/100,000 kms guarantee and an extended service interval from 10,000 to 20,000 kilometres.

The towing capacity is 2500kg.

The engine is mated with a globally rated Getrag five speed manual transmission system.

The safety portfolio has an ABS and EBD anti-skid braking system backed up by driver and front passenger height adjustable airbags and front seat belts with pre-tensioners as standard.

The Foton Tunlands offer the extra security of a two stage remote entry key with the first stage opening the driver’s door only.

There is no shortage of creature comforts with air conditioning, a quality audio system including CD, MP3 player and radio coming out of four speakers. There is also steering wheel control for the main functions.

Foton has been in existence since 1996 and its whole emphasis has been on producing tough, rugged and reliable vehicles at a price that is letting many new buyers into the market.
