GISBORNE businesses should start thinking about entering the region’s most prestigious businesses awards.

The Westpac Gisborne Business Excellence Awards are held every two years and event co-ordinator Prue Younger said the awards were a perfect opportunity to celebrate all that was good about local business, entrepreneurship and success.

Ms Younger said entries would open in April and close late May, with judging done throughout July and August.

Finalists would be announced mid-September, with the awards presentation and dinner later that month. Businesses that enter the prestigious awards have a lot to gain.

“Every year we hear such positive feedback from businesses that have entered, and often they are surprised at just how beneficial it is for them to look so holistically about how they operate and the heart of what they do.

“As well as plenty of exposure and recognition, it gives businesses a chance to be benchmarked against top performers across industry sectors.

“There are also lots of business and networking opportunities, reviews of their performance by judges and
other experts.

"Entering identifies core strengths and competitive advantages, it gives owners an independent peer group assessment and, of course, there is the chance of winning.”

Two new categories have been added for 2017: start up business excellence and health and wellbeing excellence.

The manufacturing excellence sector now includes technology.
