Gilmour's volcanic concert in Gisborne

David Gilmour

FORTY-five years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed Live At Pompeii the guitarist-singer-songwriter returned to the ancient Roman amphitheatre for two shows.

On Wednesday Gisborne can share the spectacular audio-visual experience when David Gilmour Live At Pompeii screens at the Odeon.

The live show featured lasers, pyrotechnics and a huge circular screen. The concert film includes songs from Gilmour’s career as well as Pink Floyd classics. Among these is One Of These Days, the only song that was also performed at the band’s 1971 show.

David Gilmour Live At Pompeii includes highlights from both shows such as the Pink Floyd classic, The Great Gig In The Sky, which Gilmour rarely plays as a solo artist. Songs include title tracks from Gilmour’s solo albums Rattle That Lock and On An Island, as well as other solo and Pink Floyd hits, including Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb.
