A journey to rediscovery

ANCHOR ME: Making the change from wine-maker to writer has not been easy for Wairoa man Hans Peet, but he has just been published for the first time with The Little Red Hen Community Press.

ADRIFT in the Fog: a Journey to Rediscovery is the story of Hans Peet’s rediscovery of purpose in life following his plunge into a fog of depression.

That depression was caused by the onset of blindness.

The book came about when he was forced to answer the question, “What do you do when something happens to you over which you have no control and which plunges you into a fog of depression?”

At first he went under, he drifted, until a hand reached and took hold of his. That led to a journey of rediscovery.

Peet describes his book as honest.

“There’s some philosophy and psychology tucked in it, and there’s a bit of autobiography, a certain amount of travel and an account of a significant relationship.”

Peet is now working on a second book which is based on the experience of fundraising in a rural community.
