Mountain to fountain

LITTLE ARROWS: Ahead of going on tour with The Chills, who perform in Gisborne on Saturday, support act Reb Fountain has released a music video for The Arrangement from her album Little Arrows. Picture supplied

Guitar-jangle pop band The Chills’ much anticipated album Snow Bound ploughs into our lives tomorrow — the day before the Dunedin band performs in Gisborne. Accompanying them will be Reb Fountain who released ahead of going on tour with The Chills a music video for The Arrangement from her album Little Arrows.

“The Arrangement is about awakening to your strength when you’ve felt disempowered and finding power in your self expression,” says Fountain.

“It was important to us to represent the freedom and beauty of female empowerment through bodily expression.”

Fountain brings a sound that is a little bit alt-country, a little bit k.d. lang, accompanied occasionally by wistful violin and wicked harmonies.

“Fountain’s voice demands attention no matter what she sings” says the Listener music writer, James Belfield.

The Arrangement can be viewed on YouTube at tinyurl.com/y9976dhe.

As a teaser for Snow Bound, The Chills have also released two fine tracks Complex, and Lord of All I Survey. Check them, and Reb Fountain, out on Spotify.

  • The Chills + support act Reb Fountain perform at the Dome on Saturday. Presale tickets are $45 and are available now from the Aviary and the Dome.
