A piano recital by a young musician arts patron Jack Richards invited to take master classes at an academy in Switzerland, and now studies in the US, will be held on Sunday (January 6).

Tony Yan Tong Chen will perform works from a programme that consists of sonatas by Beethoven and Schumann, Mozart’s Fantasia, pieces by Albeniz and Ravel as well as Liszt’s masterpiece Après une lecture du Dante.

Chen was still completing his final year of high school when he began studying piano under the Young Scholars Programme at Auckland University in 2017. Along with several competition and academic achievements he was recently a recipient of the 2018 Young Musicians Trust Scholarship administered by the Waikanae Music Society.
