Volunteer Wednesday at Donner’s Bush/Waimata restoration project. Volunteers are to meet at the Department of Conservation office, 63 Carnarvon Street, at 10am.

The weekly volunteer sessions are co-ordinated between Tairawhiti Environment Centre, the Department of Conservation and Gisborne District Council to give volunteers the opportunity to be involved in the district’s various conservation projects.

DIY Natural Skinfood Workshop.

Learn how to make a simple body butter, which can then be used as a chest rub or skin-healing balm.

We will use calendula oil, which we made in a previous workshop, and other natural ingredients.

Cost: $5 per person. An additional $10 for the “make and take home” product is optional.

Community-guided snorkel day. Te Tapuwae o Rongokako Marine Reserve, Whangara Road, SH35, Pouawa Beach. Event postponed from March 11 due to bad weather.

He Awa Ora, He Tai Ora, Healthy Rivers, Living Sea Education Trust and Experiencing Marine Reserves present an experience at Te Tairawhiti Gisborne’s own fully-protected marine reserve.

The community day will provide a coastal marine adventure that includes snorkelling among the reef life and guided walking tours along the beautiful coastal environment.

Key speakers will provide a background to the history of the area and the people, and the establishment of the marine reserve as part of a wider vision of enhanced coastal management.

Monthly beach clean-up, presented by Plastic Bag Free Tairawhiti. Meet at Gisborne Yacht Club, Kaiti Beach. Bring gloves and a box or bucket.
