Public meeting on freshwater and pest plans

FOREST and Bird is hosting a public meeting on Monday to address key elements of the recently-released Gisborne freshwater and pest management plans.

Gisborne District Council acting director of environmental services and protection Lois Easton will speak on the key elements of the Gisborne Regional Freshwater Plan and the Gisborne Regional Pest Management Plan, both of which she was heavily involved in.

“Ms Easton has been with the GDC for about four years and has major input into each of these plans and knows the issues inside out, having written and guided much of both,” said Forest and Bird Gisborne Branch chair Grant Vincent.

“With many issues of conservation dear to our hearts contained in both these plans, this meeting will be highly informative and well worth attending.”

The meeting is on Monday from 7.30pm at Tairawhiti Environment Centre, 386 Palmerston Road.

A gold coin donation would be appreciated to cover costs. All are welcome.
