He Awa Ora, Healthy Rivers Te Tairawhiti, freshwater monitoring and management workshop. Thursday evening, 5.30-7pm involves an introduction session. On Friday and Saturday there will be surveys at Waihirere Domain, Tuckers Road and Gisborne Airport. Workshops are free, although koha is accepted, and participants are asked to provide their own food or food to share. Details of venues will be provided, and accommodation may be available at distant sites. Recognition of participants’ learning will be provided. Kai Oranga Tairawhiti. A year-long gardening journey for those keen to reconnect with growing their own maara kai in the company of other keen gardeners. Topics covered will include food security, food sovereignty, cob oven construction, soil health, seed saving, garden design, plant propagation and garden tikanga. This course will be held at Whangara each Friday with an additional Saturday once a month.Contact Ron Taiapa on 027 773 2803 or email rtaiapa@gmail.com to enquire or enrol.
