Donner’s Bush Micro-reserve Planting Session, 9.30am-12.30pm. Meet at DoC Gisborne at 9am, or Donner’s Bush, Riverside Road at 9.30am. Help us plant up our second Donner’s Bush micro-reserve as part of the lower Waimata restoration project. Bring water, gloves and suitable footwear. Contact Charles Barrie on 027 539 6692.

Thursday, September 20

Community Planting Day, midday-3pm at Rere Rockslide. Come and help us plant native trees at Rere Rockslide. The trees were funded by the Matariki Tu Rakau programme which is a partnership with Te Uru Rakau and communities to plant native trees in recognition of the men and women in the New Zealand Defence Force. Bring boots, jacket, sun hat, gloves and a spade. Barbecue lunch and drinks provided. For more information contact Sandy Gorringe 027 204 9183.

Plastic Bag-Free Tairawhiti Monthly Beach Clean-Up, 3-4pm. Midway Beach. Join us in the public carpark beside Midway SLSC for a huge beach-clean up and enjoy a sausage sizzle. It’s a fun way to do your bit for the best little planet in the universe. Bring gloves, a bucket and wear sturdy shoes. Please contact Tairawhiti Environment Centre on 867 4708.
