Horse fair tomorrow

MORE than 80 horses and ponies of a wide range of “makes and models” will go under the hammer in the annual horse fair at the Matawhero saleyards tomorrow morning.

The sale is run by PGG Wrightson and Carrfields.

“Horses from the the top of the East Coast are always keenly sought after and we expect a good number of them this year,” said Peter McGrannachan from PGG Wrightson.

“There will also be animals from the bigger stations that are still breeding horses.”

More then 30 broken-in and around 50 unbroken horses and ponies are expected.

“There generally tends to be an animal for everyone looking for a good horse or pony.”

Last year there were 90 animals sold at prices ranging from $35 to $3500.

Tomorrow’s sale starts at 10am.
