CEDENCO Foods have started their annual pea harvest and it promises to be a good season.

The company carried out trial harvests last week and this week began to pick the crop in earnest. Agronomy manager David Oudes said the crop looks good.

“There is good potential there for a positive season," he said.

"The recent rain has helped the crop, all crops actually. We have been getting satisfactory yields and quality.”

Cedenco will harvest about 2500 tonnes of peas this season.

“We want to get it all done by Christmas.”

These harvesters were pictured yesterday in a paddock beside State Highway Two at Ormond.
