Farming families, good times and top all rounders.

TOP ALL ROUNDER: Fraser Tombleson from Haurata Station at Otoko had a great A&P Spring Show this year. He won the T.S White Memorial trophy for the supreme fleece in the show. He is pictured here with judge Scott Small from Hawke’s Bay. File pictures
TOP ALL ROUNDER: Fraser Tombleson was also very successful in the showjumping competition at the A&P Spring Show this year. He is pictured here on board Mea 1 winning the open horse 1.4m class.
FARMING FAMILIES: It has been a prosperous year for our farming families and the Storys from Ratanui at Tolaga Bay were up there with the best of them, after their R2 bull sale at Matawhero where they recorded a total clearance and a better average. Mel (at right) was with wife Nicky and her mum Shirley Gregory and the ‘grandies’ Ashia (8) and Indah (1).
GOOD TIMES: Craig Brownlie and his family from Te Ruanui at Waerenga o Kuri had plenty to be happy about earlier this month when their Poll Dorset rams set the top dollar price in the stud ram sales season here this year. (From left) Craig, Patrick, Sarah, Yvonne and Emma.
TOP CATTLEMAN: Dean McHardy from Tangihau Stud at Rere notched up the stud’s 19th win in the Wonder Cup competition at the combined R2 bull sale at Matawhero in late June. Dean was real pleased to get it back after a gap of two years. Tangihau averaged $15,475 across the 20 bulls it sold, the highest average achieved by any stud in New Zealand in the sales season.

Do you think Gladstone Road Bridge should have its concrete parapet walls converted to steel railings on one or both of its sides as part of the upgrade and widening under way?
