Values eased at Matawhero sale

MORE than 2000 head were yarded at yesterday’s weekly Matawhero sheep sale and once again nearly all of them were store lambs.

Values eased on two lines of heavy woolly male store lambs, but the rest sold at similar prices to last week.

In the prime pens 36 lambs sold from $125 up to $150.50 for a pen of 5 big black face lambs.

In the store pens top price went to Craigmore (Te Puna, Mangapoike) for a pen of 13 shorn male lambs which sold for $144.

The same vendor also received the best price of $130 for 45 ewe lambs.

The smaller store lambs sold down to $71.

Each Friday there are pens of cull mixed aged rams entered and they are selling for $60 to $70.
