Friday June 22 sheep sales.

File picture (not taken at the actual sale).

A much larger yarding of 2142 sheep were presented at the Matawhero sale yesterday and the feature were the 572 scanned in-lamb ewes from the Rangatira Farm P/S at Te Karaka.

These were capital stock and were being sold due to the recent flooding of their pasture.

They were Perendale Coopworth cross, showing excellent size and condition, and the 148 two-tooths made the top price of $206.

Prime ewe values remain strong and the 71 head sold from $105 to $145.

The 19 prime lambs sold from $138 to $179. The 71 store ewes sold from $65 to $106, and the 1382 store lambs eased in price for the heavier types, probably due to the larger offering and the current wet ground conditions.

Best prices: male store lambs: L.W Pethybridge, 7, $141; Kupenga Station (Pehiri), 55, $140, 56, $127.50; Mokonui Station (Rere), 56, $126.50, 55, $99, 27, $69; Kokotea Land Co (Te Reinga), 22, $125, 38, $111, 18, $105, 12, $79; Te Aroha Farming Ltd (Pehiri), 70, $124.50, 10, $104; Pukekiwi Station (Motu), 16, $120; Mackersey Family Trust (Tauranga), 43, $117.50, 60, $100; Matawai Station, 11, $111, 20, $99, 9, $83.
