Prices eased at Matawhero sale

PRICES for all sheep eased at yesterday’s Matawhero sheep sale, influenced by a recent drop in the meat schedule, however current prices still offer a solid return for the vendors.

The average price for the 24 prime ewes eased by $11 to $130, $44 to $139 for the 89 prime lambs and by $33 to $105 for the 54 store lambs on offer. There were only 192 sheep and 29 feeder calves yarded. Calf buyers were very selective. The jersey cross calves sold very cheaply.
