Store lamb prices have eased again

A YARDING of just 793 sheep greeted would-be buyers at yesterday’s weekly Matawhero sale and while prices continued to ease for the store lambs, they remained steady for all ewes.

A pen of six prime ewes sold for $141, while 12 large prime lambs on account of N.G and C.M Atkins made $167.

There were only five large pens of male store lambs on offer, and the best price there was $113 for 147 head from Mataraoa Station at Hicks Bay.

A pen of useful two-tooth ewes from the Darren Moroney Trust sold for $190.

There will be a cattle fair this coming Tuesday.
