Values held up in bigger yarding

A LARGE yarding of over 6200 head were presented for sale in the weekly sheep sale at Matawhero yesterday and most of them were store lambs — 4708 males and 1434 ewe lambs. The average price for them was $119, the same as last week.

Prices held up very well, considering the large number for sale.

A buyer from Hawke’s Bay was active, purchasing seven of the large pens.

The 28 prime lambs sold from $133.50 to $140.50. Best price for the male store lambs was $140 for a pen of 215 from A.C.R Jefferd at Ngatapa and a pen of 146 from Tauwharetoi Station at Ruakituri. A pen of 29 ewe lambs from Te Wera Station sold for $130. A pen of 33 light MA ewes, rwr, sold for $134.
