Euphoria of bull sales extends to sheep

THE euphoria of a successful week of bull sales extended to the sheep market at yesterday’s Matawhero weekly sale, where the strong demand continued.

The average price for store lambs rose by another $7 to $141, even though they were mostly ewe lambs.

Waitangi Terraces Station at Kanakanaia received $172 for 24 well presented store male lambs and $161 for 161 similar store ewe lambs.

Returns for prime ewe and lambs also firmed, a pen of eight big woolly lambs from the P and J Moore Trust selling for $195.

D.Mullooly sold 7 large 4 tooth wethers for $157 and the 11 prime ewes made $147 to $150.

A total of 1384 sheep were yarded.
