Well done

Charity Dog Trials - Barney Strong and Queen
Charity Dog Trials - Howard Ingles and Lou

The J and T Hickey Charity sheep dog trial championship in the Gisborne Riding Club for the Disabled arena at the showgrounds earlier this month raised close to $9000.

“That’s about the same result we’ve achieved in the past two to three years,” said trial secretary Lynda Spence.

“We are really pleased with the result, and with how the event went, and thanks to all those who supported it so well.”

The charity trial has raised more than $260,000 now since it started 53 years ago. Beneficiaries include the RDA, the rescue helicopter, Idea Services and CCS.

A feature this year was the number of younger competitors, and more young women too. But the older brigade were there in force, among them Barney Strong with Queen and Howard Ingles and Lou.
