THE annual dog show hosted by Poverty Bay Kennel Association had a great turnout of people and pooches from around the North Island.

Best In Show both days was a Palmerston North dog, a white standard poodle with the name “AM, AUST & NZ CH Mangueira Da Maya”— shortened to “Rio” when they call him for dinner. He is owned by John Stanton, Yvonne Smith and D. Cozart.

Kennel association secretary Cheryl Clarke said the weather held and was great for most of the two shows.

“We had the usual compliments on the lovely showgrounds, with plenty of shade from the heat.”

Saturday’s Reserve in Show was Gloria Landon’s Pomeranian CH Shado-Lans Mighty Cannon, while Sunday’s Reserve in Show was the puppy Dobermann Martyn Alice in Wonderland at Parima.

Ms Clarke said Gisborne featured in some of the In Show results, with Kay Taylor’s Australian cattle dog Taylords Porsha by Bundy winning Puppy in Show and a number of others winning their age class in the group placings.
