AT PLAY IN THE OCEAN: This shot of an orca at play in the ocean off Tatapouri this week was taken by Richard Busby.

THE pod of orca, or killer whales, off Tatapouri this week have drawn plenty of interest, and Dive Tatapouri’s Dean Savage swam within touching distance while taking photos of the whales.

School groups also got a firsthand look at the whales which have visited before but did not usually hang around for as long as they did. A feed of stingray was no doubt the motivating factor.
