GISBORNE District Council will make a donation of $10,000 to the Edgecumbe Flood Relief Fund.

The donation was approved at yesterday’s meeting of the council’s Future Tairawhiti committee.

It will be made through the Whakatane council.

The donation was proposed by Mayor Meng Foon, who said it was appropriate because of the support other districts had given to Gisborne after Cyclone Bola.

Whakatane mayor Tony Bonne had asked for financial support, rather than donations of food, clothing or furniture.

Mr Foon said there was also a givealittle page where people could make a private donation.
