Big fish to fry at Gisborne-Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club

BLUE FIN BEAUTY: Colin Kerr landed a 71.65kg southern blue fin tuna on Sunday. Mr Kerr’s haul made for a top day of big game fishing yesterday, with two big fish landed during Gisborne-Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club’s winter competition. The tuna was landed while lure fishing with Craig Johnston and Graham Ballard on board Mr Ballard’s’ boat Ramoe. Mr Kerr said it took about 10 to 15 minutes to land his fish, which was one of four tuna he caught on the day. He was not sure if the tuna was a club record but he was pleased to be leading the three-month Harbourview Marine and Carpet Court winter contest. “It certainly made for a top day.”
