A NEW revived wearable art event for Gisborne has been downsized and rescheduled.

Event manager Prue Younger says her BK Agency Cutting Edge - Gisborne’s Wearable Art Show will now be held at the annual spring A and P Show in October.

Originally planned to be a two-night event in September at the YMCA, the event now will be in a marquee at the Show.

Ms Younger says the Show will provide opportunity for budding and skilled seamstresses to let their creative talents run wild.

“Create and design a costume or garment, hat or other that you can showcase your skills. Make it mad, make it wild, make it practical.”

At the A & P Show on October 13 and 14 there will be a stage, sounds and an audience to continue a downsized “Cutting Edge” Show, she said.

There will be no specific categories but there is a “booty of prizes” and a trophy for the overall winner.

Entry is free. Three judges will award first, second and third places in both adult and youth (under 16).

“Judges will look for creativity and name association with your design. They will consider garment construction and ability to create a wow factor,” Ms Younger said.

Entrants need to supply their own model.

The show parade and judging will be between 1pm and 2pm on both Friday and Saturday.
