Driver approaches girl in Stout Street

CENTRAL School is warning its parents to be aware after a stranger in Stout Street asked a past pupil to get into his van.

Yesterday the school sent a message to parents through social media.

“On the way home from school today, one of our past pupils was approached by a man in a van and asked to get in,” the post said.

“She said no and the van followed her for a short time. This happened in Stout Street (heading away from Central on the far side of Wi Pere Street). The police have been informed.”

The school said it was a good time to remind children what to do in that situation. Police are investigating.
