Voter numbers over 800,000 already

MORE than 800,0000 New Zealanders have already voted in the General Election.

Voting numbers have increased significantly this week, according to Electoral Commission figures that show 105,214 people voted on Monday, 122,572 on Tuesday and 133,781 on Wednesday. The previous highest polling day was last Saturday when 89,598 people voted.

In all, 806,043 people had voted up to 2pm on Wednesday. That compared to a end total of 717,579 early votes in 2014 and just 334,558 in 2011.
