Undo those laces till next year. Or instead, get a kick-start on your training.

THE Atawhai Charitable Trust in Gisborne has postponed plans to stage a full marathon in the city at Labour Weekend due to a lack of interest but will try again in the new year.

The trust had hoped it would be a fundraiser for its youth mentoring and development activities.

It would have been the first full marathon held in Gisborne for close to 15 years.

“We have postponed it until March in the hope that we can attract more interest,” said Atawhai Trust spokeswoman Whiti Timutimu.

“We have not received sufficient entries to proceed with the event at Labour Weekend.”
