Far East Sawmills meeting tomorrow

FAR East Sawmills, purchasers of the Prime Sawmill, will host a public meeting tomorrow with potential employees.

The meeting at Emerald Hotel would provide applicants and the wider public with an opportunity to find out more about the company and its recruitment process, said managing director Wade Glass.

Far East Sawmills will recruit up to 60 employees when it establishes its Gisborne operation in late April.

Mr Glass said the company had been working closely with Juken New Zealand, who announced impending job losses on Monday, and Work and Income NZ to ensure a robust process, but wanted everyone to have access to the same information.

“This meeting is designed to make sure that everyone can find out a little more about our business, the kinds of jobs we’ll have available onsite, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

“We’re new here, so we’re really looking forward to engaging with the community and getting to know it,” he said.

The meeting starts at noon.
