Armed Offenders Squad makes arrest

THE police Armed Offenders Squad from Gisborne arrested a man wanted in relation to a number of alleged family harm matters on a beach near Tikitiki on Tuesday evening.

Police acted on information received from the public.

“The 40-year-old man, who had been wanted on warrant for some time, was believed to have gone to ground in the Tikitiki area,” an AOS spokesman said.

“He was arrested without incident on the beach.”

The man was held at the Gisborne police station overnight Tuesday and police opposed bail when he appeared in the Gisborne District Court yesterday.
