The Gisborne firefighters who will tackle the stairs of the Sky Tower in Auckland on Saturday, in the annual firefighters stair challenge, were joined on Saturday by a couple of Gisborne families who have someone special battling with leukaemia or cancer.

“They came to the Gisborne station and decorated our helmets for this year’s climb,” said Gisborne team member Robin Sneddon.

The Gisborne contingent will join hundreds of firefighters from around New Zealand and overseas in the 1103-stair climb that supports Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ.
