Three-car crash in Wainui Road

Three cars were involved in a multiple pile-up in Wainui Road on the city side of the de Lautour Road corner last night and the people in them escaped serious injury, police said.

Emergency services were called about the crash at around 5.30pm.

A witness told The Gisborne Herald two of the cars were heading towards Kaiti and the third was heading to the central city.

“One of the cars clipped another and the third car collided head-on with one of those vehicles,” the witness said.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency sent crews to the scene and they provided scene security while the crash site was cleared.
