Truck driver’s trial set for November

A trial date has been confirmed for the driver of a recycling truck charged with careless use causing the death of six-year-old Carla Neems in Russell Street last May.

Sau Tulua Aliifaalogo, 36, has elected a judge-alone trial.

The case has been scheduled for three days and will be heard in Gisborne District Court during late November.

The charge was laid after a collision between the recycling truck and the girl, who was understood to have been making her way home from school.
