Bookme.co.nz started by local Gisborne man James Alder, has notched up another high-profile business award.

Celebrating 482 percent growth over the past four years, the company took second place at the Deloitte Master of Growth National Awards at Villa Maria in Auckland last week.

The Master of Growth Index celebrates sustained business success and high revenue growth over a five-year period.

It is eight years since the company launched and received its first bookings. Bookme.co.nz is an online booking platform for tourism activities and attractions.

Mr Alder started up the online company with Gisborne in mind. The former Boys’ High School student always wanted a company he could bring home and operate from here to enjoy the amazing coastal lifestyle Gisborne has to offer.

Another New Zealand company with Gisborne connections placed 15th on the list. Straker Translations has recently relocated about eight employees to Gisborne.

“Both companies are huge advocates of the benefits of locating their business operations in Gisborne, and passionate about the lifestyle opportunities afforded here that are unbeatable for staff and truly unlike anywhere else,” said Mr Alder.
