Driver OK after truck tips over at Waingake

A TRUCK carrying fertiliser left the road and tipped on to its side as it went down a bank on the Waingake Road yesterday afternoon.

The driver was not injured.

Emergency services were called at about 4pm yesterday.

“The vehicle went about four-to-five-metres down the bank,” police said.

“The driver was not hurt. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time.”

The truck was to be recovered today.

“The load of fertiliser on board remained in the vehicle.”

The Fire and Emergency NZ volunteer fire crew from Manutuke helped at the crash site. The driver was checked by a St John ambulance crew from Gisborne.

The crash happened not far from the Paparatu Road corner.
