Strong sale at Matawhero

Another strong sheep sale eventuated at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday when only three of the pens of store lambs presented sold for less than $100, among a total yarding of 1976 head. The 31 prime lambs sold from $186 down to $151.

Haupapa Station at Tahora topped the store male lamb section with a pen of 12 making $168.

Hinenui Genetics Ltd at Muriwai sold an attractive line of 127 Coopworth ewe lambs for $160.50.

The store lambs were generally smaller this week.

Ohuka Farm at Otoko received $226 for 72, well presented, ‘SIL twins’ MA ewes, and their pen of 76 ‘SIL singles’ sold for $186.

They had all been mated to a Polled Dorset/Hampshire ram on February 20.
