A daring 8-hour rescue operation has rescued a dog trapped on a Te Araroa cliff

Gun amnesty series in Wairoa this weekend

The firearms amnesty moves to Tairawhiti this weekend, with firearm owners in the Wairoa and Putorino areas invited to attend prohibited firearms amnesty and buy-back collection events.

A collection will take place at the Waikare Sports Centre in Putorino from 11.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday.

Another will be held at Tiaho School, 93 Clyde Road in Wairoa from 10am to 1.30pm on Sunday.

Police have thanked the firearms community for its positive response to the collection events so far.

The collection series is in Morere on Thursday, September 12, Showgrounds Park Event Centre in Gisborne on September 13, Uawa Sports Club in Tolaga Bay on September 14 and Ruatoria RSA on September 15.
