Theatre officially opened

Pat Seymour, chairwoman of the War Memorial Theatre Trust which drove fundraising for refurbishment of the Lawson Field Theatre, and former Gisborne Mayor Meng Foon share ribbon-cutting duties at the reopening of the theatre on Saturday night.

The theatre was closed for more than a year while it was earthquake-strengthened and refurbished.

The official reopening was celebrated with SHINE, a variety show made up of local and international talent.

The theatre was filled for the event which showed off the abundance of talent in the district.
