Top bowlers in Gisborne for trophy

SOME of New Zealands top indoor bowlers will meet in Gisborne this weekend to contest the Paterson Trophy.

Waikato, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay East Coast will play — the overall winners advancing to the Welch Trophy national final in Hamilton is September.

The PBEC team are Arnold Hutchins, Malcolm Trowell, John Harvey, Jay Casey (team 1) and David Lynn, Warren Gibb, Lois Lamont and Bryan Pulley (team 2).

Saturday play starts at 9am and is expected to finish at around 5pm at the Ilminster Intermediate gym.

Sunday play is from 9am to 2pm.

Members of the public are welcome to head along and enjoy high-quality indoor bowls.
