Two bridge players second in tourney

TWO Gisborne Contract Bridge Club players have finished second in a major event held last week.

Elizabeth Jackson and Carolyn McMurray were competing in the Babich Wines New Zealand Wide Pairs.

They recorded 74 percent and were runners-up to a pair from Kaikoura.

The tournament is highly competitive, with 1018 pairs playing throughout New Zealand. All competitors play the same hands at the same time around the country.

The Gisborne pair have been championship partners for seven years and have had many successes.
