TERE Lincoln transferred winning form from Patutahi to Te Puia Springs in the Coast club’s open opening day tournament on Sunday.

Tolaga Bay member Lincoln won the men’s stableford with 73-11-62, for 40 points, on counback from clubmate Dion Milner.

It was two weeks on the trot for leftie Lincoln, who shot even-par 70, including five birdies, in winning the men’s stableford at the Halberg fundraiser at Patutahi the previous Sunday.

Courier couple Dick and Aomihi Cook topped the Canadian mixed pairs stableford at the Springs’ opening tourney. They had 41 points to head off John and Alvie Hale, and Shelley Robertson and Trent Higgs by one point.

JIM McGregor would be the first to admit his top seeding is just another number heading into the first matchplay round of the Reynolds Cup.

McGregor last weekend top qualified for the trophy that honours the “father of golf” and long-standing club president.

His 84-15-69 off the championship tees was good enough, pipping Kenny White by a shot, with Warwick Thompson and Neville West posting 71.

There was a seven-shot spread over the 16 qualfiers, Bill Allen sneaking in on countback from George Brown and Gray Clapham to set up a first-round clash with McGregor on Saturday.
