Local paddlers in national squads

KAYAKING

Poverty Bay Kayak Club will have nine paddlers representing New Zealand at overseas events in May and July.

Zach Ferkins (u21), Alex Bermingham, Ben Bristow, Sam Ferkins and Alicia Hoskin (all u18) and Stacey Warren-Moiser (u16) will compete at the inaugural Asia Pacific Regatta (Adelaide, May 12 and 13).

As well as New Zealand, teams from Australia, Japan, Singapore and possibly some Pacific Island representatives will take part.

Britney Ford and Kim Thompson will contest the Open World Cups at Hungary (May 18-20) and Germany (May 25-27).

Ford, Kim Thompson and Quaid Thompson will take on the best u23 paddlers at the u23 World Championships at Romania (July 26-29).

Bermingham, Hoskin and San Ferkins will compete at the u18 World Championships (Romania, July 26-29).
