Turanganui a Kiwa Darts Association results

Ten scores of 180 were thrown in Brezz’n Darts Club’s Tuesday night winter league this week.

Seven of them came from the match between two of the club’s top-end teams, Ford Falcons and Rhinos.

It was tight for much of the match, but Falcons put in a late surge to win 10-5.

In the 15-game format, teams aim to get on top in the pairs section. But little separated these teams in the pairs.

Rhinos’ top pairing of Jono Griffiths and son-in-law Tyson Eyles made a good start with the first of their three wins of the night, defeating Falcons’ top pairing of Tahuna Irwin-Ahlers and Jordan Ngarangione 2-0.

Falcons’ Harley Ngarangione and Antonio Curtis struck back, defeating father-son combo Joe Kiri and Hayden Kiri 2-0.

Rhinos youngters Errol Tamihana and Cody Kiri didn’t disappoint their teammates, defeating Sam Kirikino and Peter Tom 2-0.

Falcons’ Irwin-Ahlers and Jordan Ngarangione then had the first of their two wins, defeating Joe Kiri and Hayden Kiri 2-1.

Falcons’ Harley Ngarangione and Curtis defeated Cody Kiri and Tamihana 2-0.

Rhinos’ Griffiths and Eyles took their second game, defeating Kirikino and Tom 2-1 . . . 3-3 with three games to go, and tension was high.

Falcons’ Jordan Ngarangione and Irwin-Ahlers took one, defeating Cody Kiri and Tamihana 2-0.

Griffiths and Eyles had their third win, defeating Harley Ngarangione and Curtis 2-0 . . . 4-4.

Falcons’ Kirikino and Tom brought it home, though, defeating Joe Kiri and Hayden Kiri 2-0, giving their team a 5-4 lead going into the singles.

Falcons showed in the singles why they lead the grading round. As individual players, they disposed of their opponents with ease, winning the singles 5-1. All the singles, including the lone Falcons loss, were 3-1 games.

Ford Falcons won the match 10-5 and so won the grading round undefeated.
