TIGERS defeated Rhinos by one point in the A Grade game of the night in Brezz’n Darts Club’s Tuesday winter league this week.

Apart from the Tigers’ 11-10 victory over Rhinos, Ford Falcons defeated Pumas 16-5 and Stallions defeated Sharks 16-5 in other A Grade games.

In the B Grade, Scorpions defeated Ruahine 9-6 and Tao Matarau defeated Pythons 9-5.

Tao Matarau’s Region 7 youth boys’ representative Irie Eyles had the highest start of the night — 180

Rhinos were a player down in the A Grade game of the night. Nevertheless, they had Tigers on the back foot early. Rhinos were 4-2 up after the first set of singles.

However, Tigers turned the tables in the pairs, winning this section 6-3 to give them the overall lead at 8-7.

In the reverse singles, Tigers won the first three games to clinch the match — Hukanui Brown had an uncontested win, Toby Ratapu defeated Nikila Irwin 3-0 and Leroy Eyles defeated Hayden Kiri 3-0.

Rhinos won the last three games but the match was already lost, 11-10.

The B Grade game between Pythons and Tao Matarau, won 9-5 by Tao Matarau, had great darts from both teams.

Irie Eyles, in throwing his second 180 of the season, also had the highest start of the night.

Tao Matarau won the pairs section 6-3 but competition was tight, most games going the full three legs for 2-1 scorelines.

Some of the singles games also went to five legs, with 3-2 scorelines.

Among the results, Tao Matarau captain Ani Tangira defeated Temple Edwards 3-0, Pythons’ Summer Takurua defeated Tamati Irwin 3-0, Tao Matarau’s Shaolyn Edwards defeated Kiri Hawea 3-2, Python’s Hine Edwards defeated Te Waiawa Irwin 3-2, and Tao Matarau anchor Irie Eyles defeated Mere Keenan 3-2.
