Eastland in action at junior badminton nationals

EASTLAND had some close matches on Day 2 of the junior badminton nationals in Palmerston North.

Competing in Division 3, Eastland lost to Manawatu (2) 10-6 and to Taranaki 15-1.

Against Manawatu, it was 4-4 after the doubles. Manawatu dominated the singles, winning six of the eight matches, and Eastland rallied to win two of the four mixed doubles. Close games were a feature of the tie.

Taranaki dominated against Eastland, winning 15 matches of the 16 matches.

Lily Hill and Wellington player Anaiwan Ojala were able to hold off their opponents and win by two points in both games.

Manaia Puha and Journey Waru lost their first game by 10 points but fought back in the second to lose by only two.
