BIZminton4 ends with Late Comers top again

Late Comers took the honours on the final night of the BIZminton4 competition held at the Badminton Centre.

Although they won the competition, they were defeated 6-0 by Te Hapara Excellers in the final night’s play.

Over five weeks, 13 teams drawn from local firms, schools, friends, and volunteer and sport groups took part.

Receiving the trophy for the second time this year, Shanan Gray thanked the organisers and said he hoped another BIZminton competition would be run in summer.

The plate competition was won by WPS Opus. Runners-up were Starship Enterprise.

On behalf of the two Enterprise teams, Mike Rice thanked the organisers and their fellow competitors for a well-run tournament.

Spot prizes were drawn and the evening concluded with supper.

One player said her team started off as “No Idea” but finished with “Some Idea”.
