GISBORNE boxer Alhaji Sherriff won the junior men’s 63-kilogram title at the Boxing New Zealand National Championships in Christchurch last night.

He beat James Charlton of Canterbury on points.

Another Gisborne boxer, Tawhirimatea Toheriri-Hallett, contested the final of the youth 69kg division. The referee stopped the fight in the third and final round, declaring Auckland’s Wendell Stanley the winner.
