Jamie Joblin set Comet Swimming Club records in the 50-metre breaststroke and 100m individual medley when he competed at the New Zealand short-course championships in Auckland.

He already held both records, but bettered his previous marks with solid personal-best swims.

Joblin placed ninth in the 14yr boys’ 50m breaststroke.

Holly Fisher had a fantastic personal best swim in the 400m individual medley. She also had a personal best in her 200m backstroke and 50m backstroke races.

She placed ninth in the 15yr girls’ 200m backstroke.

Emma Niven swam a solid 200m butterfly and placed ninth in the 16yr girls’ event.

At the Bay of Plenty champs, Imogen Amor-Bendall set three Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay 12yr girls’ records — in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly; and Jodiesha Kirkpatrick set four in the same age group — in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, and the 100m individual medley.

Comet has a solid base of swimmers coming through the ranks and achieving well.
