Winning start by Gis Int girls

Gisborne Intermediate girls’ cricket team began their Northern Districts regional finals campaign for the National Primary School Shield with a 41-run win over Mount Maunganui in Papamaoa yesterday.

Gisborne posted 110-7 in 20 overs of the nine-a-side contest. Tegan Hayward topscored with 16.

They then bowled the Mount out for 69 in 19 overs, Keeley Smiler taking four wickets for eight runs off four overs and Gloria Allen 2-13 off four.

Gisborne faced Kamo Intermediate of Northland this morning and have a bye this afternoon.
